MBA Events
The MBA Program at Webster Geneva recently held a visiting lecture on the Democratization of Business Angel Investments and an open evening with presentations on Behavioral Finance and Global Negotiations.
The Democratization of Business Angel Investments
Mr. Frederic Falise, an active deal leader of Go Beyond Early Stage Investment, gave a guest lecture on November 28 on Business Angel Investment.
Mr. Falise introduced Webster MBA students and other guests to the growing phenomenon of business angel investment in start-ups. He demonstrated how angel investing connects companies and investors and gave an overview of the main sources of funding, various types of business angels, the investment process, and assessment and due diligence. He also explained about the risks involved in this activity, and finally answered the participants’ questions.
Students had a wonderful opportunity to gain insights into both the company and investor aspects of this unique type of funding, and bridge the gap between theory and practice.
“MBA for an Evening” Master Class Series Launched
The Walker School of Business and Technology on the Webster Geneva campus has launched a new 'master class' series which will bring the MBA program’s most interesting, influential and innovative topics, to the community. The talks are given by professors from the program, from across a wide range of business fields.
The first “MBA for an Evening” event took place on November 9th, with Dr. Dominique Jolly, Chair of the WSBT, opened the event and welcoming the audience.
Dr. Michal Paserman, MBA Program Director and Professor of Finance, introduced the participants to the newly emerging field of Behavioral Finance. She demonstrated the way common emotions, psychological biases and mental shortcuts intervene in investment decision-making, causing investors depart from standards of accuracy and rationality.
Dr. Katarzyna Jagodzinska, Professor of Organizational Behaviour, shared with the participants some tips for how to succeed in an international business environment. Participants gained insights into the cognitive, emotional and behavioral levels of conflict management and their influence on conflict occurrence.
The presentations were followed by a student and alumni panel and a networking session, where the participants had an opportunity to meet with faculty members, MBA students and alumni, and learn about the Webster MBA program.
